Do you know about the tallest mountain in the world? Do you want to read about this mountain? Its name is Mountain Everest, which is in the border of Nepal and Tibet. It is known as the roof of the world because it is 8.848 meters tall. This mountain is extremely cold because the temperature is -62C on the top. So, if you don’t like extremely cold weather, don’t think to go there.
Mount Everest is 60 million years old and it grows up 44 millimetres every year. Thousands of adventurers go there to climb up the Mountain Everest, but some climbers can’t climb because when you go to the top of the roof, the oxygen reduces and then either you die, or you turn back.
The first climbers are Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. These people climbed in 1953. Sir Edmund Hillary was from New Zealand. However, Tenzing was a Sherpa, who carried ropes and all the tents before climbers.
If you want to climb to the roof of the world, you have to pay a lot of money because it costs between £25,000 to £95,000. The trip to the top of the mountain Everest is not short. It takes about 40 days to climb.
