The Giant Lizards: Dinosaurs

When you read about the text below, you will learn about dinosaurs which are known as the giant lizards.

Do you know what “dinosaur” means? “Deino” means ‘fearfully great’ in Greek and “sauros” is meaning ‘lizard.’ So, dinosaur means “fearfully great lizard”. Dinosaurs are prehistoric reptiles which lived 245 million years ago. These kinds of animals were extremely large and massive. They had quite big hind legs and strong arms. They could eat a person easily. They were greedy creatures. There are so many types of dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor, Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus, or Triceratops. Dinosaurs are great scary animals which appear in movies, books, magazines, and TV shows. We know them as greenish, scaly, and reptilian giants. 

                     

Dinosaurs ate either meat or plants; they were either carnivorous or herbivorous. All carnivorous dinosaurs ate lizards, turtles, eggs, or early mammals like giraffe, dogs, pigs, horses, cats or sheep. Herbivorous dinosaurs did not eat grass because they were not cows; they ate fruits, leaves, vegetables, roots, or treetops.       
             
            

Dinosaurs lived together and some travelled in herds/groups. Raptorial dinosaurs were like wolves, and they hunted their preys in groups. On the other hand, Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops were iconic enemies; however, they lived together. Crocodiles are closely related to dinosaurs, but they are not true dinosaurs. All true dinosaurs lived on land, not in water.

           
Dinosaurs became extinct 66 million years ago. Today, we read or hear many theories about why dinosaurs died. Some people believe that dinosaurs went extinct because of food drop or volcanic eruptions or because of a disease like a plague. Other people guess that they died because of environmental change. However, the most realistic theory is that dinosaurs died because of a massive comet or asteroid. When a 10 or 15 km wide comet crashed the earth, dinosaurs died. It was 66 million years ago.

   
In this text, I will also suggest a film which is about the rebirth of dinosaurs. Its name is Jurassic World, which was filmed in 2015. When you are watching, you will see a man who trains raptorial dinosaurs; he teaches and feeds them. Also, he speaks with them and the dinosaurs understand him. On the other hand, after Indominus Rex is born, he fights with T-Rex. Do you know who won? I do not want to tell you who won; you should watch the film.

THE UNSINKABLE SHIP

The RMS Titanic was the largest ship in the world. RMS means “Royal Mail Ship”. Titanic means “huge, giant, and massive”. Its length was 269.1 metres and the ship used 825 tons of coal every day. There were 10.000 lamp bulbs on the ship; so, it was more like a star in the Atlantic Ocean. There were 840 rooms on the ship. 416 was for the First-Class passengers;162 was for Second Class passengers; and 262 was for the Third-Class passengers.   Ody and Rico Ody and Rico are my birds. Ody is green and black and yellow and blue. Rico is white and blue. Ody is is a fat bird but not too fat. Rico is very good because he eats too much.   Eymen and his new school   I’m Eymen Erdem. I am nine and I am studying in 2/B. This year I am going to Erenler Schools, which has a big canteen and a lovely playground. There are hundreds of children; they are very good boys and girls. I have great teachers, who teach everyone very well. There are twenty-four children in my classroom. The deepest hole in the world

Do you know about the deepest hole in the world? Its name is Mariana Trench, which is found in the western Pacific Ocean. Its depth is 10,984 metres . Mariana Trench is taller than Mountain Everest in India, which is 8,844 metres. Can you imagine? It is unbelievable. It is scary, too. Do you know about the tallest mountain in the world? Do you want to read about this mountain? Its name is Mountain Everest, which is in the border of Nepal and Tibet. It is known as the roof of the world because it is 8.848 meters tall. This mountain is extremely cold because the temperature is -62C on the top.
